April 21-28 is Money Smart Week, a public awareness campaign designed to help you better manage your money. Last year over 200 people attended events given by financial experts.
The library kicks off this year’s Money Smart Week with the popular Find Missing Money program, Saturday, April 21 from 1-4pm. Drop in to ask an I-Cash representative from the State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division to search for you. Last year the I-Cash rep found over $700 for our patrons!
Unclaimed property includes checking and savings accounts, uncashed wage and payroll checks, uncashed stock dividends and stock certificates, insurance payments, refund checks, uncashed death benefit checks and life insurance proceeds. Lost funds can be claimed by either the original owner or their heirs or search for yourself.
Job seekers should register for a Navigating the Job Search workshop on Saturday April 21 from Noon-4:30pm. Presentations include job search tools, informational interviewing and developing confidence. Presented by Skokie Library’s Career Librarian and community career counselors. Register here.
