GRAMMYS

Who Cares About The GRAMMY’S?

Situated the week before the Super Bowl and about a month before the Oscars, the GRAMMY’S imagines itself to be “Music’s Biggest Night,” but who cares about The GRAMMY’S? When was the last time you were invited to a GRAMMY’S viewing party or hosted one for that matter? Growing up, the music award shows I joyously anticipated (and recorded) were the VMAs and the now-defunct Source Awards because those awards promised to have thrilling performances, along with winners and nominees of music categories I actually cared about. As I sat down to submit my post for the best albums of 2017, I decided to wait until after the show aired, knowing in the back of my mind I ultimately would be left shaking my head in disgust at the decision(s) of the recording academy. Some of the performances were good (Kendrick, Ke$ha, Bruno Mars and Cardi B, Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid), but overall the evening was bland, starting with the host, James Corden.

That said, here’s my list of the best albums of 2017:
