On Saturday, February 24, 2018 the Niles-Maine District Library hosts its 2nd Annual Teen Job Fair. Close to 90 teens attended last year, as well as businesses from around the area. This year, some participating businesses include: Target, Panera, Kumon and Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation.
The Teen Job Fair targets teens and new adults wanting to join the workforce and begin planning for their futures. Not only will they have access to hiring employers, they’ll also be able to participate in Connecting the Dots, an interactive workshop focusing on the path from school to a career.
“These programs are to help students start thinking about the connections between school, first jobs, college, and careers,” says Donna Block, Teen Services Librarian. “Our Connecting the Dots program is geared for grades 7 and up, so it’s a way for teens that are too young for jobs to participate and get a head start for a future job search.”
For some, this will be their first experience at a job fair. Teens are encouraged to come dressed for success and prepared to learn how their interests and talents could transform into a fulfilling career.
The Teen Job Fair is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm; ages 16-24. Connecting the Dots workshop is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 at 10:30 AM – 11:00 am AND 11:30 am – 12:00 pm; Grades 7-12.
