“Henry Denton has spent years being periodically abducted by aliens. Then the aliens give him an ultimatum: The world will end in 144 days, and all Henry has to do to stop it is push a big red button.” (Goodreads)
Hi! I’m Shahneeza and I’m a high school intern here at the Library. One of the best books I read this summer was We are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson. Not only was the plot unique and interesting, I actually found myself getting sucked into the world of Henry Denton, the main character.
Henry Denton hasn’t had a very easy life. He’s dealing with bullies, the death of his boyfriend, emotionally abusive one-night-stands and a best friend that betrayed him. His problems go on and on but reading this made me feel like I wasn’t in my own body. It’s like I was in his world and was feeling the same things he did. His feelings about everything in his life are relatable which is why I found little pieces of myself in this book too. Henry’s problems may not be the same as your own. but this book is so captivating that it makes you forget about your own problems.
If you’re looking for a book that sucks you in, makes you think, and is all around entertaining, I would suggest this book.
