Big Idea: Light is all around us.
Activity: We challenged the kids to make the Wonder Ground completely dark. We used thick paper, cardboard, and fabric to cover the window and the door, and then turned off the lights. Even with the window and door completely covered with several layers of material, slivers of light seeped through the tiny cracks between the walls and the ceiling. We never did get the room completely dark, and this allowed us to observe how light travels through various materials and tiny spaces. Plus, it gave us a chance to use our flashlights in some very interesting ways.
