IMG_4024After two years of planning, the Niles Public Library officially announced the start of their year-long renovation project. A “wall breaking” ceremony was held this morning with Library Director Linda Weiss highlighting many of the exciting changes that residents of the Library District can anticipate (see “Timeline” for more details).

In attendance at the kick-off ceremony were Village of Niles Mayor Robert Callero, President of the Friends of Niles Library and Village Trustee Chris Hanusiak, and several other Village officials. The Niles Library Board of Trustees, including President Barbara Nakanishi, Vice President Linda Ryan, Treasurer Danette Matyas, Morgan Dubiel and Dennis O’Donovan (Secretary Chris Ball and Trustee Karen Dimond were unable to attend) wielded a sledge hammer to break a ceremonial wall on the 3rd floor where the work will begin this week.
