Niles-Maine District Library

I Stream, You Stream

We live in a digital era where we have on demand entertainment at our fingertips wherever and whenever we want it. With today’s technology, you can stream and download your favorite books, movies, music and more through apps that can be viewed through your TV and/or mobile device. The best part of it all is that you can get them for free. The Niles Public Library District provides these streaming services to its resident cardholders.

Gain 24 hour access to ebooks and audiobooks with OverDrive, eRead Illinois and Tumblebooks. Download new music releases and watch some of your favorite movies on Hoopla. Get caught up with the latest digital magazines and newspapers with Flipster and PressReader. These apps are available for download on your iPad, Kindle, Android device and more. All you need is your library card number to open the door to a wide selection of digital media. But that’s not all!

The Roku is a small streaming device that delivers entertainment to your TV in a big way. This device gives you access to a ton of free content on apps like Netflix, YouTube and VUDU, to name a few. Head down to the Tech Desk on the Lower Level to check out a Roku for yourself! Our Rokus come pre-loaded with new releases and pre-paid apps to provide you with the best entertainment experience. All you need is a HDTV, Internet and a power outlet to plug and play your device.

The Roku is one of the many pieces of equipment available for checkout to Niles library cardholders. Find out more by accessing The Creative Studio page in the link here.
