The band program was eliminated from the school budget in the spring of 2004, but since its re-inception in 2005-2006, the Gemini Jazz Band has been a very strong part of the community. They perform regularly at malls, nursing homes, hospitals and bookstores. They have also been invited to represent the school district at area awards, banquets and dinners for the East Maine Township, Niles Chamber of Commerce, and Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce.
Since their re-inception in 2005, the jazz band has regularly attended festivals such as the North Shore Jazz Festival at Glenbrook South High School, the Jazz in the Meadows Jazz Festival at Rolling Meadows High School, and the Frank Mantooth Jazz Festival at New Trier High School. They have earned a 1st division superior rating at every jazz festival they have attended since 2005 and have ranked in the top three of every competitive festival they have attended since 2007.
Individual students from the band have earned honors as Outstanding Soloists at the North Shore Jazz Festival and Most Outstanding Soloist at the Jazz in the Meadows Jazz Festival in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
