oscar

On Tuesday, February 25, we had the program The Year in Movies: 2013. It was an encapsulation of the films of 2013 and a little bit of an Oscar preview. Here is a wrap-up of the program:

Based on awards already won, here are the front runners for the Oscars on Sunday, March 2:

BEST PICTURE: “12 Years a Slave”

BEST DIRECTOR: Alfonso Cuarón - “Gravity”

LEAD ACTOR: Chiwetel Ejiofor - “12 Years a Slave”

LEAD ACTRESS: Cate Blanchett - “Blue Jasmine”

SUPPORTING ACTOR: Jared Leto - Dallas Buyers Club

SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Lupita Nyong’o - “12 Years a Slave”

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Spike Jonze - Her

Does that mean that these are the winners? No, of course not. Not assuredly. Though the odds are in their favors, at least if the critics and the previous awards hare any indication.

How would my picks differs? Well, I have two sets of picks…who I THINK will win. And then who I would love to win, based on who I feel is best in each category…basically who I would vote for if I were a member of the Academy. How are these different? Let’s just say that if I were a betting lady, the first set are who I would place my money on. But, the second set are emotional, personal picks.

Who I think will win:
